Sn nanoparticles confined in amorphous carbon nanotubes (aCNTs) are synthesized via a nanowire-directed templating method. Benefitting from the uniform distribution of the nanosized Sn particles and the robust aCNT framework, the Sn@aCNT hybrid structure shows excellent long-term cyclability and high-rate performance as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries.
