Brief introduction of the conference

The 7th International Conference on Computational Nano-science and New Energy Materials (CNNEM 2014) will be hold in Nanjing, P.R. China, 19-22 June 2014, which intends to be a global forum for researchers and engineers to present and discuss recent advances and new techniques in Computing Nano-Science and New Energy Resource Materials. CNNEM 2014 is organized by Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Biofunctional Materials, and College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Nanjing Normal University. The focus of the workshop will be Computational Nano-science, in which one mainly investigate the properties and applications of nano-materials by theoretical computations, and New Energy Materials, which cover most of the area of Computational Nano-science.

Interesting properties of nanostructures, such as nano-tubes,-wires, -ribbons,-clusters, fullerene and quantum dot, has been providing an unprecedented opportunity for low dimensional physics and material chemistry advancement. The technology in new energy and renewable clean energy field is one of the most decisive factors which play influence on 21st century's economy development. In the studying of nano-science and new energy material, computational simulating is an effective method to design new material structures, predict and explain results of experiment.
Here we sincerely invite experts and scholars engaged in this field to come together, discuss frontier issues, exchange experience and explore possible academic co-operations. Certainly we also genuinely welcome graduate students and the youth research workers to attend.

Brief introduction of Nanjing Normal University

Nanjing Normal University was originally the Sanjiang Normal Institute, which was established in 1902 by Zhang Zhidong, the Governor-General of Jiangsu and Jiangxi. After that, it was renamed Liangjiang Excellent Normal Institute in 1905, National Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1914, various other names, before being named National Central University and then Nanjing University, and in 1952 Nanjing University Normal College became Nanjing Normal College and then renamed Nanjing Normal University in 1984. Nanjing Normal University became a comprehensive university well known for the educational and scientific research. It was included in the national 211 Project in 1996. The school is now ranked as one of the top 5 normal universities in China, and its overall ranking is around 50 in the National College Ranking.
The university has three campuses, Suiyuan, Zijin, and Xianlin. Suiyuan campus has a very long history and is well know for “the most beautiful campus of the west”. Xianlin campus was established in 2001 and it occupies an area of 5200 mu. Most of the faculties and students are now working and studying in Xianlin campus. The university now consists of 25 varied faculties and another two independent ones, including Zhongbei Institute and Taizhou Institute. Until 2013, Nanjing Normal University has 1834 full-time teachers, including one academician of CAS, three Changjiang distinguished professors.
